A rare grand modèle glass Coupe Bijoux designed by Charles Schneider and executed by Schneider, Société Anonyme des Verreries (1918-1981). Charles Schneider (1881-1953) was awarded the French Legion of Honour in 1926 and managed with his brother Ernest and sister Ernestine one of the largest art glass factories in France during the Art Deco period.

  • PRODUCT INFO

    Coupe Bijoux in satin-finished, blue powdered flecked symbolising clouds "nuages" which reminds the work of the surrealist painter Magritte. Applied amethyst-black shaft and foot with stylised fined grey stripes. During the blowing of the glass, the different glass parts were melted together. Design 12, page 47 of the original Schneider catalogue 1918-1922.   • SIGNATURE/MARKS:

    signed “Schneider” in block letters in the foot. Glasmarken Lexikon - Carolus Hartman - P. 245 – 5384. The same reference work reports on page 796 that the Coupe Bijoux series was only produced between 1918 and 1924/1925.
